Performance Evaluation of ASTM D86 Atmospheric Distillation Systems According to ISO 17025 Standards
Apr 23 2017
ASTM D86 distillation is a commonly performed test for refineries and QC labs stated in various petroleum specification such as the European EN590 diesel specification and EN228 gasoline specification. D86 is also specified in the US standards ASTM D4818 for automotive spark-ignition engine fuel and ASTM D975 standard for diesel fuel oils.
With various automatic systems, such as the PAC/Herzog OptiDist, and semi-automatic systems widely spread over control labs it’s hard to keep track of the traceability and reproducibility of results.
To be sure, relying on a trustworthy body accredited for testing of petroleum analysers according to ISO17025. ELS, European Lab Services checks every step of the verification process thoroughly and guarantees 100% traceable and repeatable test results of your D86 atmospheric distillation instrument.
Verification of an ASTM D86 automatic analyser according to ISO 17025 standards is demanding task. All of the following parameters are verified in accordance with strict regulations: Calibration of temperature sensor at 4 points in the accredited calibration lab (*), Verification and adjustment of temperature display on-site (*), Verification and adjustment of barometric pressure sensor at 2 points (*), Verification and adjustment of volume measuring (**), Verification of distillation speed (*), Verification of temperature stem correction & lag time (), Offset programming and verification (*), Distillation using Toluene & Hexadecane CRM as final test (*), Test certification
() yearly, (*)every 6 months, (**) every 3 months.
ELS has 25 years of experience and a unique accreditation service, European Lab Services is the only company worldwide providing on-site verification of D86 distillation analysers with ISO 17025 accreditation.
