Biodiesel refers to a non-petroleum-based diesel fuel consisting of short chain alkyl (methyl or ethyl) esters, made by
transesterification of vegetable oils or animal fats, which can be used (alone, or blended with conventional
petrodiesel) in unmodified diesel-engine vehicles.
