Low pour point 'offers numerous advantages'

Sep 02 2010

Synthetic refrigeration oils with a low pour point carry numerous benefits for users, according to developer Batoyle.

With an inherently high viscosity index, the firm claims that its newly developed 46PE and 68PE refrigeration oils perform well at low and high temperatures alike.

At higher temperatures, film strength is maintained, ensuring good lubricity and energy efficiency during use.

"Low temperature fluidity compared to conventional fluids is also a major advantage," the company says.

"Pour point and low-temperature viscosity is significantly reduced, ensuring greater pumpability and cooling and heat-transfer characteristics."

Synthetic design also allows longer intervals between servicing, thanks to reduced oxidation and thermal degradation of the oils.

Batoyle was originally founded in 1875 and develops oils, greases and lubricants for a variety of different industrial markets worldwide.

Its network of distribution agents is complemented by three main offices, including the Huddersfield-based headquarters of the firm and a facility in Italy dedicated to serving the European market.
